More and more products are becoming smart products (SPs). SPs communicate with customers in a new way. The more personal the communication – e.g. based on data gathered on the customer by the product – the closer the relationship between the product and customer can be. A new touchpoint in the customer journey is emerging, the point of use, which was previously hidden to companies.

Prof. Dr Katarina Stanoevska-Slabeva is an honorary professor in information management at the University of St. Gallen and Managing Director of the Institute for Media and Communication Management. Her research focuses on the digital transformation of customer experiences as well as topics such as digital business models, digital communication and competences.
